William Saletan doesn’t think you’ve got a pair

William Saletan of Slate Magazine has come to the conclusion that routine body scanning at airports is a lost fight, he may be right.  However this coward seems to go above and beyond in his love for invasion of privacy.
It’s time to give up this squeamishness. Forget the etchings and fuzzy negatives. Take the whole picture, TSA: breasts, scrotum, penis, labia, gluteal cleft, whatever. Look at mine so you can look at the next guy’s. Because if he’s a bomber, that’s where you’ll find the bomb.

Privacy advocates are fighting to keep the scanners from becoming standard procedure. In … Continue Reading

My Favorite Olive Garden

Olive Garden is my favorite place to go out to eat.  I could have the Tour of Italy dish every day for the rest of my life.  I’d especially love it if I could have the fresh Olive Garden Salad, the nice warm bread sticks and the world’s best tiramisu for dessert.  I developed my love for Olive Garden in Utah but little did I know that the world’s best Olive Garden would be out here in the East in Tyngsborough, Massachusetts.Tyngsborough olive garden outside

The outside of the restaurant is striking.  It’s a … Continue Reading

Foxwoods

All I can say is wow.  I’d heard of the mythical poker room but I can’t believe it’s real.  I took a day off work (I was sick cough cough) and went down to Connecticut.  I drove the wrong way, I went down the three until I got to the Mass Pike and went into Boston, almost all the way to the airport.  From there down past Foxborough, through Providence and then on to the casino.

It was so cool to drive through a quaint little New England town, through a forest and then on to a casino.  I’ve never seen … Continue Reading

Gloucester 01/29/06

Gloucester 003Originally uploaded by wildpokerman.

We went to Gloucester today. I’d seen the statue on some of my workplace’s promotional materials. It’s quite a pretty town.

When we were leaving Sofia ran way up ahead of us, I was so mad. She wouldn’t come back and I was running after her calling her. I don’t know why I get so upset about stuff like that. It seems so petty now.

I was so mad we came straight home … Continue Reading

On to Niagara, the Casino edition.

The next morning I went on from London. I drove out towards Detroit again due to some bad advice from the guy at DR Horton’s. After righting myself I went on to Niagara. I was trying to decide between Niagara and Toronto, I was due for a recreation day after all that driving so I was going to stop at a casino. I didn’t want to spend a whole week … Continue Reading

Day three, onward to Canada

Anawan, that was the name of the town I woke up in that morning.  I went to the hotel lobby to have a continental breakfast.  I saw a guy there having his cereal and toast, he said a polite hello.  I thought for sure he looked like a Mormon, he had blond hair combed over to the side, he was about 19 and smiled a lot and had big teeth.  I knew though that this far from Utah there was no way he was a Mormon, probably a born again.

After breakfast I went to my car and packed up the … Continue Reading

Day 2 Nebraska and Iowa

Nebraska is one pretty state.  I can really see why the world’s greatest value investor lives here.  There’s a beautiful serenity here that I’ve never seen anywhere else.

The road is made of some sparkly material.  It makes me imagine I’m traveling in Oz.  The green fields and hills made me feel the awesome power of this country.  It’s not in the cityscapes that tower above the landscape but in the fields that create food year after year.  I wondered as I was driving how much field it takes to feed me.

One thing I didn’t really get into in Nebraska was … Continue Reading

Day one wyoming/nebraska

Wyoming plainsOriginally uploaded by wildpokerman.

I left my family to go to New Hampshire on July 25th at about 8AM. This was going to be my longest cross country drive and the biggest life change I’ve experienced since my marriage and the birth of my children.

I was scared to death and excited. The part of getting the job I was most excited about was the trip across the country but as the day got closer … Continue Reading
