Six Feet Under

So what a sad month to start watching six feet under.  I’m halfway through the first season.  I’d be almost done but Joanna and I are trying to watch it together so I’m limited to episodes that we can watch while we’re together, which with work and kids in practicality is 2-3 per week.  It’s helped that we’ve disconnected Direct TV to take advantage of an offer I couldn’t refuse on a Comcast package.

It’s a sad month because it seems that this August has been marked by death.  No immediate family but still people that I knew and didn’t expect … Continue Reading

36 Things I love about Joanna

Joanna turns 36 today, well in America her birthday is tomorrow but since she was born across the dateline it’s today.  She’s hoping her family gets to call so she can quote the Conchords and tell her mum it’s not her birthday.  But since I haven’t forgotten here’s a list of one thing I love about her for each year she’s been alive:

1. Her accent.  How can you beat it?

2. How kind she is to live so far from friends and family just to be with me.

3. How the kids fight over who gets to jump in bed with her … Continue Reading

Goodbye Gall Bladder

Three years ago I started having pain in the upper right portion of my stomach.  It was very sore but I didn’t think much of it the first couple of times I had it.

Let me take a step back and give some history.  When I was in 6th grade I had some pain in my upper right abdominal area.  It hurt to eat or drink and I was out of school for probably about 6 weeks or so.  I had test after test in the hospital but the doctors never found anything wrong.  Eventually it was chalked up to stress … Continue Reading

Vacation 05/10 to 05/18

When I have had vacation in the past if we haven’t gone out of town we’ve wasted it.  Joanna hate spending my vacation time by having nothing better to do than go to the mall every day.  This year we had a family meeting and decided what to do every day so that we would feel like we had done something with my time off.

Sofia was in school and since we didn’t go out of town we didn’t pull her out this year.  She complains that the boys always get to do fun stuff while she has to go to … Continue Reading

MOS and Mother’s day

I’m in vacation this week and rather than lay around and do nothing like we usually do we planned activities for each day of the week.  Yesterday was designated as either a beach day or a trip to the Museum of Science in Boston.  It was rainy so off to the museum we went.  We started off the trip by viewing the animal exhibit.  The kids were kind of interested in the animals but were absolutely fascinated with a poster on the wall that showed what kinds of food the different animals ate.

After the animals we went to a planetarium … Continue Reading

It’s over!

With a huge victory in NC and a marginal loss in Indiana it looks like Obama will be the Democratic Party nominee.  I wonder if I should have put down $20 on an online gambling site rather than giving it to his campaign.  He was 4-1 to win the nomination when I did it and 8-1 for the presidency.  Well hopefully good government will be worth more than whatever I would waste the money on.

If you thought Obama Girl had a crush on Obama you should see Olberman and Matthews.  Sheesh.  It’s like watching a political Brokeback Mountain.  I keep … Continue Reading

Webkins Oh My! 04/13/05

The PizzaYesterday was a great day.  It was the first weekend that I’ve had completely off for a long time.  We went for a drive north and went to Warner where they have the fall leaf festival.  They have an amazing pizza place where they serve a 20 inch pizza.  It was so good that Joanna even liked it!

The Place!

On the way home we stopped and got some lottery tickets it was my lucky day!

Lucky me

Today the kids all got webkins.  They’re very cute … Continue Reading

3/23/2008 Revolution

Last night I watched the two first eposides of John Adams the HBO series.  Paul Giamatti is great but I still can’t get past his role in Sideways.  There’s a scene where the patriots are all sitting around the table and they’re drinking a red beverage.  John is unhappy with how little the continental congress is accomplishing.  He rants a little bit about the lack of will that the congress is showing.  I kept expecting him to go off about the merlot he was being served.

The kids got their Easter stuff today.  We had an egg hunt in the back … Continue Reading

Last night I scored my highest Civ score ever.  Not an accomplishment to live your life by but still I’m proud that I’m progressing at doing something I enjoy.

The day shift has gotten me hooked.  It’s a super big change but I’m so happy I made the switch.  Money is tight so far.  I think it’s worrying Joanna more than me right now.  We did have a fight after the grocery store though and it was initiated by me.  We haven’t done that for quite a few years.  It’s amazing what knowing you’ll have unlimited overtime to pay for whatever … Continue Reading

The day shift seems to be working out OK.  I’m eating regular meals and working out four times a week at least for a whole week.  I miss the extra pay but I’m loving the normal style lifestyle.

I’ve loved spending time with the kids.  Sofia has been extra good at doing her homework and Coleman loves playing games with his daddy.  I’ve even been trying to help Joaquin learn to talk.
